Art Myers was born in 1935 and grew up in the small southern California town of La Mesa. He graduated from San Diego State College in 1958 with a BS Degree in Engineering. Several employments in the Military Industrial Complex lasted until the end of 1969. His first layoff was in 1961 and he spent the fall months working as a construction laborer in Mammoth Lakes, CA and the winter of 1962 skiing in Aspen, CO. Another stint in engineering and a second layoff occurred which found him with a wife, daughter, house payments and just beginning what became a thirty year career as a professional sculptor. Interspersed in those years were a variety of residences and occupations for both he and his wife, Jeanne. Retiring in 2002 they bought a sailboat and spent ten years living aboard and cruising both US coasts. They have lived in a variety of places including Saratoga, CA, Aspen and Loveland, CO, and Lake Forest, IL. They currently reside in Vero Beach, FL. His first book was an autobiography written for family and friends in 2015. He has since written even novels covering a variety of his passions including art, music, mountains, oceans, the bonds of family and friendship, history and the accomplishments of extraordinary people.
